RI Beach House - Guest Suite, Powder, and Entry
Thank you so much for all of the support on part 1 of this reveal!! And thank you again to Bijou for featuring this project! Today I’m going to show you the rest of the first floor including the guest suite, powder room, and entry. Ready? Let’s do it.
The guest suite is right off the living room and I’m going to guess they have a hard time getting guests to actually leave. This whole space is heavenly! We painted the walls Sherwin Williams light french gray at 50%, added a beautiful woven bed that we lovingly nicknamed the “triscuit” after the pattern of the weave, and some kick ass lighting.
And because at the beach you really can’t have enough texture, we added woven wood shades and a rattan desk chair. I used pops of coral to the bedding which worked well with the gray walls and quilt.
In the bathroom I chose rattan mirrors, gray quartz counters, and a brass lantern to carry the color palette and finishes into that space. I love mixing metals so we used polished nickel for the faucets, sconces and hardware. The floors are carrara marble herringbone and the rug united both rooms - sometimes one piece is all it takes!
This is the only bathroom with a tub in the house so why not make it a great one! Artwork by Lauren Marttila Photography.
Ok! Moving on to the powder room. Is it strange that sometimes these are the most fun to design? This space also serves as the entrance to the outdoor shower and the pool so it needed to be able to accommodate wet feet and a lot of towels. We opted for black slate tile that we laid in a herringbone pattern and wallpaper with the softest wave pattern.
Across from the vanity are built in shelves and a bench with plenty of hooks (cute brass ones to be precise ;) for all of the towels.
Finally the entry! The exterior of this home is so so beautiful and while we didn’t snap any photos during the shoot, we did get one of the front door. The paint color is BM Van Deusen Blue at 75% strength.
Inside the front door, I asked my friend and fellow Newport lover Mary Ellen Harney Art to create a huge painting based on the ocean and she delivered! I love the interpretation of waves.
That’s the rest of the first floor - next week we’ll go upstairs! Have a great weekend!
