MRD Hidden Lane Project Master Bedroom, Guest Room, & More
This has maybe been the slowest project reveal in the history of project reveals (thank you Covid 19) but I’m back today to share the upstairs of the #mrdhiddenlaneproject! We worked on the master bedroom, a guest room, reading nook, and one incredibly long hallway. I’ve shared a couple of peeks on instagram of the guest room and hallway but you haven’t seen everything! Before I go any further, I have to thank my fantastic clients for letting me help them with this project and also Jessica Delaney who captured it all so beautifully. You can check out the rest of this project HERE and HERE. Ok let’s start with the master. It has this great laid back California coastal vibe which is really representative of these clients.
We used soft linen bedding, leather, rattan and a color palette that is pulled from the beach with watery blues and sandy tans. The big woven pendant is a real show stopper.
Across from the bed is an awesome fireplace - I always think that’s such a luxury to have a fireplace in a bedroom! I added a pair of striped ottomans that serve as a spot to put on socks, or you know, collect clothes. ;) We also hung some beautiful artwork by McKenzie Dove (top) and Jess Blazejewski (bottom). This shot also gives a peek of the bathroom and hallway leading there. I sourced this super cool wool and jute runner and had it custom made for this spot. Out of view on the left are his and her closets which I’m truly envious of!
Moving to the spaces outside of the master, tucked at the top of stairs there is a little nook that was perfect to set up as a spot to curl up with a book (or phone as the case may be). This is a great example of using every little space and why it’s worth it to make those spaces pretty!
Outside of the master bedroom in the other direction is a lonnnng hall (50+ feet) that leads to three other bedrooms and the laundry room. We replaced the recessed lighting with pendants, added two matching custom runners, and installed a massive 16 frame gallery wall (installed by the husband - those are some mad measuring skills!). I chose to split the runners into two because to my eye there needed to be a break in the pattern
The runners were a huge leap of faith as all we had to go on was a small sample. Landry & Arcari was a great partner and helped with a drawing of the design that I tweaked a bit and ultimately we went for it - definitely worth the risk! But the real question is, lights on or lights off?!
the final space is a guest room that got another dose of woven materials mixed with linen bedding but also got a major shot of color from some fun pillows.
And that’s all she wrote! Thank you for all of the amazing feedback on this project in comments and messages on instagram. There may be a little more to share when we wrap up the basement this summer!
